Our Program

Dandy Rose is a farm and forest program for young children (ages 1 - 6) located in Barnardsville, NC. We provide a Waldorf-influenced nurturing environment where children can experience rhythm and ritual while exploring their relationships with each other and the natural world. We are a small program, which enables us to be present with each child.  We focus on tending to each child's hands and heart with awareness and care under the guidance of two very experienced, loving teachers.

The general rhythm of the day is as follows:

- Flexible drop off window with integrating play (indoors during cold / rainy weather, outdoors in warm weather)

- Seasonal Circle Time with songs, rhymes, and games

- Snack Time with Story

- Lunch harvest and preparation; garden project; free play

- Group nature walk; creek play in warm weather

- Nourishing Lunch Time

- Craft and Free play

- Closing Circle

- Flexible pick up window

We provide one nourishing meal straight from local farmers and our gardens prepared daily with the support the children and served family style at the table.

Monday: Rainbow Rice

Tuesday: Tacos with homemade corn tortillas

Wednesday: Chicken Soup and Sourdough Buns

Thursday: Sourdough Pizza

Ms. Annalise has been nurturing children for over ten years with experience teaching and assisting in Waldorf classrooms, nature camps and programs, childcare at earthskills gatherings and in local homes.  She completed her Lifeways Waldorf Teacher Training in September 2020, and has received her 250 hour and kids yoga trainings.  She incorporates Spanish speaking / lessons, seasonal songs, homemaking, crafting, kids style yoga, movement and much more.  She has years of offering her loving, nurturing, calm energy to the children around her.

Ms. Laura has learned alongside children most of her adult life.  She has a license in elementary education and has worked in both traditional and non-traditional learning environments.  Her experience varies from rural multi-age classrooms in Vermont, a community school on the Caribbean island of St John, a public charter school in Asheville, a village school in Southern India, environmental education centers and summer camps, and first and foremost, her time with her three young boys.  Laura has always been inspired by the innate sense of wonder and curiosity that we each bring into the world and feels honored to nurture that within children.  She believes in helping to foster connection in children:  connection to nature, connection to community, and connection to the spark within.  Laura is also a farmer and homesteader and loves to have children's hands and hearts tending land and animals alongside her, singing songs and preparing food from the harvest.
